Outdoor sports for us is a four-pillar mix. Carbon fiber sporting equipment — race ski poles, trekking poles, bike helmet shells, paddles, snowboard accessories, premium carbon tripods. Precision-machined components — bike stems and cassettes, flashlight bodies, multi-tool parts, climbing hardware — round out the hard-goods side. Soft goods — backpacks, technical bags, tents, ground blinds — bring in our cut-and-sew workshops. Sealed outdoor electronics — rangefinders, flashlights, headlamps — complete the mix. Different workshops, different processes, but consistently retail-class output across every category.

Composite sporting is the engineering-led category — race ski poles in T700 mandrel-wrapped tube, trekking poles with telescopic composite shafts, bike helmet shells in carbon-Kevlar hybrid layup, paddles for kayak and SUP, premium tripod legs in twill carbon. Precision-machined sporting goods are the second pillar — bike stems, cassettes, hubs, and CNC-machined cycling components in 7075-T6; flashlight and torch bodies in 6061-T6 with knurled grip and Type II anodize; multi-tool components, climbing hardware, watch cases. Tight-tolerance work where the surface finish is the product.
Soft goods (backpacks, technical bags, tents, ground blinds) are a growing capability — sewn from technical textiles (Cordura, silnylon, ripstop), framed with machined aluminium and composite poles, integrated with our hardware (buckles, adjusters, zippers). A dedicated soft-goods page is being added to the capabilities set; for now this industry summarises the work.
Rangefinders, flashlights, headlamps, and similar outdoor electronics complete the mix — sealed housings, IPX-validated electronic integration, drop-test qualified. Field optics for general outdoor use (binoculars, monoculars, non-shooting rangefinders) are in scope.

Expanded polystyrene foam for impact-absorbing helmet liners, thermal-insulating bottle inserts, and structural sandwich cores. Molded to net shape, density-tuned by program.
General-purpose machined aluminium for flashlight bodies, ski-pole grip-end inserts, telescoping pole collars, tent pole connectors, multi-tool components. Anodizes cleanly in any color.
High-strength aluminium for precision bike components — stems, cassettes, hubs, handlebar parts — and other weight-critical machined sporting hardware.
Lightweight die-cast magnesium for binocular bodies and weight-critical premium optical housings. Conversion-coated and powder-coated rubberised exterior.
Stainless steel for tent stake hardware, multi-tool components, premium drinkware bodies (304), and saltwater-exposed outdoor hardware (316).
500D / 1000D heavy-duty nylon for backpack bodies, technical bags, tool pouches, ground-blind fabric. Abrasion-resistant, water-resistant with PU coating, available in solid colors and printed camo patterns.
Silicone-coated ripstop nylon for tent fly fabrics, lightweight pack bodies, dry-bag construction. Ultra-light, waterproof, tear-resistant via ripstop weave.
Premium ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene composite fabric for ultralight tents, premium backpack bodies, and weight-critical outdoor product. Strength-to-weight leader.
Nylon and polypropylene webbing in 1in / 1.5in / 2in widths; YKK-style zippers, side-release buckles, ladder-locks, sliders, D-rings, hook-and-loop closures.
Cosmetic-grade plastic for flashlight and rangefinder housings, headlamp bodies, electronic enclosures. Tough, paintable, hydrographic-printable, UV stabilizable.
30% glass-filled nylon. Structural pack hardware, tent-pole connector hubs, pole baskets, grip-end caps. Stiff, weather-resistant, dimensionally stable.
Thermoplastic elastomer for overmolded grips on ski poles, trekking poles, flashlights, and pack hardware. Soft-touch feel, weather-resistant, comfortable in cold conditions.
Realtree®, Mossy Oak®, Kryptek partner patterns plus woodgrains, hex camo, snake skin, custom OEM patterns. The dominant decorative finish across our outdoor program mix; routed through dedicated telfid-graphics.com facility.
Ceramic-matrix coatings for high-durability outdoor service — knife handles, premium machined hardware, saltwater-exposed components. Oven-cured, abrasion-resistant, chemical-resistant. Wide color range, mixed-color application possible.
Decorative anodize on machined aluminium components — flashlight bodies, premium bike components selectively. Pantone color match, including multi-color masking.
Polyester powder coat on stainless drinkware, tent stake hardware, structural sporting hardware. RAL color match, multi-color option, UV-stable for outdoor service.
Cosmetic class. Outdoor sports product is sold cosmetically — at retail or e-commerce, by the look of it. Color match (ΔE < 1.0), pattern register on hydrographic dips, gloss-unit consistency, anodize tone-to-tone matching across multi-piece assemblies, seam alignment on sewn product, are all validated per lot. Customer reference plate or production-witness sample locks the spec before production runs.

Outdoor product fails in the field — months or years after ship, usually at the worst possible moment. The way to catch failures before that point is in-house environmental and durability testing, with sample plans set up to find what would otherwise only show up after a customer return. Below is what we run on every program where the cosmetic and functional class warrants it.
Active certification covering our full quality management system. Annual surveillance audit, three-year recertification cycle. The QMS foundation under all the test protocols below.
Spray, immersion, and submersion testing per IEC 60529 — IPX4 (splash), IPX5 (jet), IPX6 (powerful jet), IPX7 (1m / 30 min), IPX8 (continuous immersion). Ingress chamber on-site; per-lot sample plan validates seal integrity on every production batch.
Drop test rig on-site — programmable height, multi-edge / corner / face drop sequence per ASTM D5276 free-fall protocol. Standard configuration is 1.5m drop sequence on first-article and per-program sample plan thereafter; higher-spec drops (2m / 3m) on request.
Salt-spray chamber on-site — 5% NaCl at 35°C, 1000-hour capacity, continuous run. Witness coupons for coated lots where the program calls for marine-grade or saltwater-exposed service — outdoor drinkware destined for coastal markets, marine-side accessories, coated machined hardware where the cosmetic finish has to survive long-term outdoor exposure.
QUV-A accelerated weathering for plastic and finish UV-stability validation. Per-lot witness samples on outdoor-exposed product; color shift (ΔE), gloss retention, and surface integrity scored at 250h, 500h, 1000h intervals.
UN 38.3 transport testing on lithium-cell products, FCC / CE regulatory testing for radio and electromagnetic emissions, MSDS / SDS handling for consumer packaged products. Routed through accredited partner labs under our QC chain; documentation chain preserved into the shipment file.
RoHS (EU 2011/65/EU) and REACH (EC 1907/2006) compliance declarable per program. Critical for outdoor product retailing into European markets and consumer-facing programs across most export destinations.
Color match (ΔE < 1.0 standard, < 0.5 premium), pattern register tolerance on hydrographic dips, gloss-unit (GU) consistency, edge quality, and pad-print / heat-transfer registration scored on every cosmetic-class lot. Customer reference plate locks the spec.
Documentation pack. Standard outdoor program documentation includes: IPX validation report with sample-plan results, drop-test record on first-article, salt-spray witness data per lot, UV-chamber readout where weathering matters, color-match (ΔE) record per coated lot, and partner-routed regulatory test reports (UN 38.3, FCC, CE) where applicable. Outdoor programs are typically high-volume and cosmetically-driven. The two things that lock a program down faster than anything else are a physical reference sample (or production unit from a previous generation) and a clear durability spec — IPX target, drop height, UV exposure, salt-spray hours.

Cosmetic class is the single largest source of outdoor program slippage — "the camo isn't quite right" or "the gloss is off" or "the pattern register is rotated." All avoidable by signing off a physical reference plate, witness-pattern dip, or production sample before tools cut. We send first-article cosmetic samples for sign-off; production then runs against the signed reference.
Quote turn-around runs five to seven business days for new outdoor programs. First-article cycle three to four weeks (includes tool set-up, hydrographic pattern lock if applicable, IPX validation, and drop-test on production-intent units). Production schedules typically held to ±2 days at high volume.
